President Yameen inaugurates Dhiggaru island harbor and sewer system

While speaking in Mulah, President Yameen had addressed international scrutiny over Maldives’ political situation

President Abdulla Yameen has inaugurated the newly built harbour and the services of sewerage system in Dhiggaru Island of Meemu Atoll, as part of his current visit to some islands in the atoll.

During the ceremony the President unveiled a monument placed to inaugurate the services of these two projects, with the newly developed harbour of Dhiggaru measuring at 750 feet long and 260 feet wide.

The President is currently on a two-day visit to Mulaku Atoll, as part of which he has visited Mulah and Dhiggaru island. While speaking in Mulah, President Yameen had addressed international scrutiny over Maldives’ political situation.

President Yameen spoke in support of recent controversial arrests and convictions of political rivals, which have been condemned by the European Union and the United Nations as well as the individual governments of several countries and said ‘the EU will take action against the Maldives this month’.
