South-Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof has repeated his assertion that prison inmates are being killed through medical negligence.
In a tweet on Monday, MP Mahloof said that 14 deaths in two years is proof of negligence.
Mahloof said the truth is known by the families of the dead inmates as well as prison officers and through Mahloof’s own experience in prison and that he will keep repeating this assertion even if he is jailed.

His tweet comes after the death of Hamzath Ahmed, who died while receiving treatment at ADK Hospital in the capital Malé City.
Information officer at MCS, Ahmed Lugman told RaajjeMV that Hamzath had suffered a stroke which had paralyzed half of his body and was being given treatment at ADK Hospital at the time of his death. He said that Hamzath had suffered the stroke while playing football last Wednesday, adding that he had been in treatment since.
Lugman also said that they do not discriminate among prisoners and give the necessary treatment when they are sick.
Mahloof is on trial on false reporting charges for a similar tweet he made on authorities’ negligence of prison inmates leading to their deaths.
