The Maldivian government has conveyed Independence Day greetings to United States President Donald Trump.
The President’s Office released a statement on Wednesday expressing wishes to ‘bolster the working partnership between Maldives and the USA’, a quote from President Abdulla Yameen’s message to President Trump.
“The President expressed his gratitude for the generous support and assistance that USA has extended towards the developmental efforts of the Maldives and emphasized that the Maldives attaches high importance to its relations with USA” the statement reads.
Further, the statement says that the relations between Maldives and US have been ‘marked by good will and understanding’.
In his message, President Yameen highlighted on the significance of the occasion and noted that it is a day to celebrate the freedom, history, heritage, and diversity of USA.
