Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to reclaim lagoon Maavaru Falhu in northward of Kaafu atoll.

Tourism property development and management company, Good Catch Private Limited acquired Maavaru Falhu in May.

MTCC was contracted with the reclamation of a total of four island in Maavaru Falhu last week.

According to the MTCC’s Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Ziyath, they will begin the project of land reclamation within the 10 – 15 days using cutter suction dredgers.

According to the company, within the first phase of the project, eight hectares of land from the lagoon which stretches to a length of three kilometers, will be reclaimed within 60 days.

The company also reports that they will be building five to seven star tourist properties in the reclaimed land, which will be a major progression in tourism.
