Jumhoree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim has deleted a recent online video announcing his shadow cabinet.

In a Facebook Live video message to his supporters on Tuesday evening, Qasim announced his new coalition and shadow cabinet, which do not include any members from main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Qasim has since deleted after video after much criticism over his announcement. A JP official told the media that the video was deleted due to audio issues.

At the time, Qasim said that he announced his pick of cabinet members because the opposition coalition parties’ discussions to back a single candidate had gone stale, adding that he is still willing to back a candidate proposed by the coalition.

Some included in Qasim’s shadow cabinet had also criticized for picking them without discussing it with them first. Even Adhaalath Party and former President Gayoom’s faction of the ruling party, which were included in Qasim’s coalition, stated that he made the decision without their knowledge.
