The government has been criticized for placing the name of missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan in the list of voters for this year’s presidential poll.
Rilwan was abducted outside his home in Hulhumale’ almost four years ago.
Some have taken to social media to question the motive behind Rilwan’s name being in the voter’s list.

While Rilwan was abducted on 8 August 2014, it is likely that his name was placed in the list because authorities have not confirmed that he is dead or would never be found.
NGOs and Rilwan’s family have blamed the police service for being negligent in investigating the case and some have accused government officials to be behind the abduction, since police officers have so far failed to find those behind his disappearance.
