Maldives has been nominated for awards in two categories at the 4th Annual Spa Awards which is to be held at St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort later this year.

The annual awards is to be held on October 26, and a voting window has been opened from the 01st of May till the 17th of August.

Velaa Private Island's "Spa My Blend by Clarins" is among the nominees for the "World's Best Private Island Spa" award and "Iridium Spa" at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is among the nominees for the "World's Best Spa Design" award.

Other categories of the World Spa Awards include "World's Best Aromatherapy Brand", "World's Best Beauty Salon", "World's Best Cruise Spa", "World's Best Wellness Travel Agency" among several others.

The world's first ever underwater spa was opened in the Maldives lavish Huvafen Fushi resort in 2004. This remarkable addition to the spa segment in the five-star destination took the spa industry to a whole new level. 

Maldives has successively been maintaining the title ever since the establishment of the World Travel Awards, bringing home the award for Indian Ocean's 'Best Spa Destination' at the World Spa Awards in years 2015, 2016 as well as 2017.

International leaders of the travel industry come together on a global stage to reciprocate innovations, knowledge and best practice principles at the annual event held to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in the spa and wellness sector of the industry.

The award was established in 2015 to help enrich a new era of growth in the spa industry and to transparently serve as the definitive benchmark of excellence.
