The incident occurred at about 19:40 on Sunday

A young man from Fonadhoo island of Laamu Atoll has been injured by assault with a machete.

According to the police, the incident occurred at about 19:40 on Sunday.

However, officers revealed no other details.

RaajjeMV understands that the young man had been injured in two places on his leg. He was also attacked by a group of assailants, eye witnesses have said.

The man has been taken to the regional hospital in Gan of Laamu Atoll.
