A diver suffering from decompression illness has on Saturday been airlifted to capital city Malé, via helicopter.

The 41-year-old was admitted at the Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital in Thinadhoo of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

After having dived about 53 meters on Friday, the diver had complained of chest pain and had sought treatment at the hospital.

The Maldives National Defence Force brought the diver to the capital city at about 9:45 AM.
