US Embassy launches U.S. MV iBoat program in Thulusdhoo island

The Embassy of the United States of America has launched the U.S. MV iBoat program in Thulusdhoo island in Kaafu atoll.

The program was started in the island in partnership with National Library of the Maldives, Thulusdhoo Island Council and Kaaf Atoll Education Center. It was carried out from October 4th to 8th.

As part of the program, 30 youth from the island were trained in photography and videography.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ahmed Mihad, Principal of Thulusdhoo Youth Center commended the Embassy for the initiative.

‘This is a well-time initiative by the U.S. Embassy and provides local youth with opportunity to participate in an information and communications technology program,’ he said.

The U.S. MV iBoat is one of several skills-based programs offered through the American Center Male’. The U.S. Embassy and government of Maldives established the center in 2004 to provide youth with employment and leadership skills, English language learning, and information about studying in the United States.
