Had confirmed such a case was under investigation

Maldives Police Service (MPS) once again has refused to make statement on an assault case concerning President of Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) Mohamed Shahyb and an officer of Maldives Police Service (MPS).

The case was filed in MPS by the officer.

The case had also been filed by Shahyb. RaajjeMV understands that Shahyb had filed the case as an assault one.

Police media official reported the case was under investigation and therefore no statement can be made.

Eyewitnesses report that Shahyb had visited a residence near MDP offices on Sosun magu and was seen exiting the premises in a sprint, a few minutes later. Another individual had chased Shahyb, with eyewitnesses reporting that the two had argued.

RaajjeMV understands that the other person involved in the case is an officer of the Special Operations (SO) Police officers.

RaajjeMV had made multiple attempts to contact Shahyb. All calls and messages to him remained unanswered.

RaajjeMV also understands that Shahyb had filed the case in Police as well.
