Mohamed Saeed has moved his hunger strike to Majeedhee Magu alongside his family after 14 hours, protesting what he describes as a total systemic failure. The demonstration follows the repeated release of an individual accused of harassing and threatening families.
Saeed noted that although the individual had been arrested between 25 and 30 times over the past year and a half, he was consistently released within a week at most. He emphasized that these repeated arrests offer no solace to the family. Consequently, he stated that the family has no intention of ending their ongoing hunger strike.
While Saeed continued his protest, the individual identified as Faris was taken into police custody. Despite police requests to end the demonstration following the arrest, Saeed declared that the protest would continue, citing a complete lack of confidence in the system.

Saeed stated on his Facebook account that the protest on Majeedhee Magu has now been ongoing for 14 hours. He detailed his efforts to resolve the issue by reaching out to various authorities, noting that the police informed him that extensive measures had already been taken and there was nothing further they could do at this stage. Saeed further cited the police as saying that several presentations regarding the matter have been scheduled for next week.
The National Drug Agency (NDA) stated that he could not be admitted as he did not meet their eligibility criteria. Similarly, the Home for People with Special Needs (HPSN) declined responsibility, asserting that he does not suffer from a mental illness. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) confirmed that legal proceedings could not move forward due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Following these developments, Saeed remarked that this situation serves as clear evidence of a total systemic failure.
