Dh. Meedhoo Health Center extension: Current administration fails to progress beyond demolishing perimeter wall!

Mohamed Shahid, the former President of the Meedhoo Island Council, has expressed concern over the stalled construction of the extension building at the Dhaalu Meedhoo Health Centre.

Expressing his concern in an interview with RaajjeTV, Shahid stated that the extension building for the Dhaalu Meedhoo Health Center was initiated following public complaints regarding the lack of adequate facilities for the resident pediatrician and internal medicine specialist. He noted that the project was among those awarded across the country without a public tender process.

Shahid stated that, thus far, the only progress made on the project has been the demolition of the boundary wall constructed during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration. He further noted that the building is designed to house facilities for X-ray and scanning services.

Even the most ordinary citizen understands that these facilities cannot be established without the completion of the building itself. Nevertheless, they continue to offer periodic assurances that the necessary machinery and various other resources are on their way.

The construction of the Dhaalu Meedhoo Health Center was initiated during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, with the project being awarded to Samaal Construction. According to the former President of the Meedhoo Council, the structural work of the building had already been completed by the end of the previous administration. However, the facility was officially inaugurated under President Muizzu's administration.
