MVR 1.2 million spent on religious organizations over two years: Shaheem

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has revealed that 1.2 million Rufiyaa has been spent over the past two years to provide various resources and support to organizations engaged in Islamic dawah and outreach work.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the annual general meeting for non-governmental organizations, Dr. Shaheem stated that religious advocacy groups play a vital role in maintaining and strengthening the Islamic identity of the Maldives.
The Minister stated that providing these organizations with the necessary resources is a key government priority, noting that 1.2 million Rufiyaa has been spent on these efforts over the past two years.
The Minister stated that these funds were utilized for significant initiatives, including the establishment of Islamic studios and the procurement of necessary resources for Quranic classes.
The Minister highlighted that the efforts of religious organizations play a vital role in providing accurate information about Islam to the youth and the general public in the Maldives. He further stated that the government will continue to support these organizations, emphasizing that their work is of significant national importance.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Shaheem emphasized that the work of Islamic Dawah can only be effectively carried out across the Maldives through mutual cooperation. He noted that in an era where Islamic outreach faces significant challenges, collaborative efforts are essential for success. He further stated that stakeholders must complement and support one another in their collective mission.
Furthermore, the Minister noted that over the past few years, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowment has worked closely with organizations operating within the Islamic sector, providing them with extensive support and assistance.
Leaders and members of various organizations active in the field of religious propagation participated in the annual meeting of non-governmental organizations. According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the meeting focused on the ongoing activities of these organizations, the challenges they face in their work, and discussions regarding potential solutions to these issues.
More than 60 delegates representing 53 organizations are participating in this year's meeting. The discussions at the gathering are set to focus on the theme, "Islamic Dawah in the 21st Century."
