Govt. incapable of apprehending real killers of Dr. Afrasheem: Ali Hussain

Kendhoo Constituency MP Ali Hussain says the Government was incapable of apprehending the real killers of late Parliamentarian for Ungoofaaru Constituency, Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

Speaking in the opposition rally in Maafannu Kunooz, MP Ali Hussain said even the Police was incapable of finding the real killers. He further accused the Government of using Dr. Afrasheem’s brutal murder for political gain and leverage.

MP Ali Hussain added that Police were not there for the protection of criminals or as tools to be used and abused by those in power. As such, he noted that arresting half of the Parliament was not an indication of how well they were fulfilling their mandate.

He further said that inaction in face of crimes such as murder, leads one to question humanity in all.

The Parliamentarian also described unjust verdicts on Parliamentarians as cruel. He added the blame of such acts did not reside solely with President Yameen, adding that judiciary and independent institutions were also implicit in this.

He concluded by stating that situation of a nation only changed when citizens acted on that desire for change and called on all to ally in this endeavor.
