Tourism Trust Fund allocates MVR 8.5 million for the renovation of Sultan Park and Republic Square!

The Auditor General’s Office noted that while the fund received 132.7 million MVR last year, it concluded the year with a remaining balance of 149.2 million MVR.

The Auditor General’s Office has stated that 8.5 million Rufiyaa was spent from the Tourism Trust Fund to repair the fountains at Sultan Park and Republic Square.
The Auditor General’s Office has released the audit report for the Maldives Tourism Trust Fund for the period from September 30, 2025, to December 31, 2025. According to the report, a total of MVR 132.7 million was deposited into the fund last year, which includes MVR 25 million received as CSR fees.
The audit report highlighted that the Tourism Trust Fund released MVR 8,571,150 to the Ministry of Housing. According to the report, these funds were allocated for the renovation of Sultan Park, as well as the replacement and repair of the fountains at Republic Square.
The audit report also stated that the fund had a remaining balance of 149.2 million Rufiyaa at the end of the year.
The Ministry of Housing closed Sultan Park for redevelopment on August 20 last year. Following the completion of the renovation project, the park was officially reopened on the day of this year's Eid al-Fitr.
