During a special operation, police discovered over 265 grams of suspected narcotics while searching two residential properties, and an investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.

Renowned volleyball player Fazil has been arrested on allegations of involvement in large-scale drug trafficking.
Police announced on Saturday that an individual was taken into custody on August 20 under a Criminal Court warrant, following a joint operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department, Counter-Narcotics Intelligence, and Vaavu Atoll Police. The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Ahmed Fazil, a resident of Deeliyage in Vaavu Atoll Keyodhoo.
Police stated that during the operation, they conducted searches of two houses in Keyodhoo suspected of being used for drug trafficking. During these searches, authorities seized 265.01 grams of substances suspected to be narcotics.
Police stated that Fazil has been remanded in custody for 10 days following a court appearance to determine his detention status. The matter remains under further investigation.
Fazil is an accomplished athlete who has delivered standout performances for the national volleyball team, renowned local clubs, and in various atoll-level championships.
