Hussain Ziyad, the Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, has stated that although the water and sewerage system in HDh. Vaikaradhoo has been fully completed, it remains non-functional due to the poor condition of the island's electricity network.
Speaking on RaajjeTV's "Vaudhunaama" program, MP Ziyad stated that while the island's water and sewerage system has been completed, the water plants remain inoperable due to a lack of sufficient electricity required to run the system.
The water and sewerage systems have been completed and are currently operational and accessible. However, they remain effectively unusable. This is due to a lack of sufficient electrical capacity, which has prevented the water plants from being powered on.Hussain Ziyad
Highlighting that the construction of the powerhouse in Vaikaradhoo has already been completed to address the issue, MP Ziyad noted that some cable rolls previously brought in to upgrade the electricity network have since been relocated to other islands. MP Ziyad further stated that the failure to complete this critical project to date remains a significant grievance and a major challenge for the island's residents.
