The Mulah Island Council has expressed concern over the slow progress of the project to construct the perimeter wall, install fencing, and set up the lighting system at the local football stadium.
Although this project was initiated by the current administration, the suspension of work has deprived the island's youth of the opportunity to use the sports ground.
In an interview with "RaajjeTV" regarding the project, the Mulah Island Council stated that the football stadium development was officially inaugurated in 2025. However, the Council described the lack of significant progress since the commencement of work and the subsequent project delays as a major challenge to the future of sports in the island.
The council highlighted that Mulah is home to a large number of sports-loving youth. They further noted that every day the stadium remains unfinished is a significant setback for these young people, adding that complaints and concerns have escalated among the youth due to their inability to use the facility.
Highlighting the reasons behind the stalling of projects, the Council stated that the government fails to give adequate attention to critical factors when awarding contracts.
The Council alleges that the primary reason for the suspension and stalling of numerous projects is the awarding of contracts without properly assessing the financial capacity and stability of the respective companies.
The residents of Mulah are urgently calling for the completion of the local football stadium to ensure that a dedicated sports environment for the youth is established as soon as possible.
