The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has concluded their recent fire safety program held in islands within Kaafu Atoll.

The two-day ‘Jarraafa’ program had officers train in conditions on water and inland, as they travelled from exercise camps in capital city Malé, its urban extension Hulhumalé, and Thilafushi.

The MNDF’s Fire and Rescue service said in their statement that officers had trained for civilian rescue and evacuation operations as well.

The program was supported by a number of organizations and institutions, including hospitals and local government councils.

The Maldives Red Crescent, the Disaster Management Center, the ADK Hospital, the Hulhumalé Hospital, the Housing Development Corporation, the island council in Vilimalé, and the Maldives Police Service had participated in the program.

The MNDF’s statement notes that Defence Minister Adam Shareef had visited the officers during training on Saturday, a day before it concluded.
