Lucas, who was detained for 10 days over comments he expressed, has been released
Social media activist Shammoon Jaleel (Lucas) has been released from police custody today after being detained for 11 days following his arrest during a protest on Majeedhee Magu.

Social media activist Shammoon Jaleel (Lucas) has been released from police custody after being arrested while expressing his views during protests calling for press freedom.
He was arrested on the night of the 13th of this month while protesting against the arrest of journalists during a demonstration at the junction of Majidhee Magu and Chaandhanee Magu. The court has remanded him in custody for 10 days. Police stated that those detained during the protest were taken into custody for disobeying lawful orders.
While in detention, Lucas sent out several messages encouraging others to stand against injustice. He emphasized that he remains steadfast in his commitment to advocating for fundamental rights and freedoms.
