Maldives Police Service (MPS) has completed the investigation into the murder of Nadheem 'Nadey' Abdul Raheem, forwarding the case to the Prosecutor General (PG) office for legal action.

24-year-old Nadheem was at a café in Malé City on July 27, when he was stabbed in the head by a group of masked assailants; he died two days later while receiving treatment.

Police said that the case has been sent to the PG office, asking to levy charges against four suspects.

While police did not disclose the identities of the suspects, they had made a number of arrests in connection to Nadheem's murder; Mohamed "Pencil" Mafaz, who has a prior criminal record, was arrested on August 10, and is believed to be the primary suspect. His remand has been extended thrice since his arrest.

Mafaz, who had a MoniCon order issued on him, was arrested after a raid at a house in the Galolhu ward of the capital Malé City, with police confirming that the arrest was in connection to the fatal stabbing.
