Allegations surface over MVR 2.4 million cash deposit into the account of MP Saudha, sister of President Muizzu
The Maldives Monetary Authority’s Financial Intelligence Unit is investigating a suspicious deposit of MVR 2.4 million into the bank account of MP Saudha. Although Saudha claims the funds were a student loan obtained from a private businessman, the transaction has sparked widespread public concern due to discrepancies between this claim and her official financial disclosure statements.

A case has surfaced involving a cash deposit of MVR 2.4 million into the bank account of Fathimath Saudha, the Member of Parliament for the Nilandhoo constituency and sister of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
RaajjeMV understands that following the matter being brought to the attention of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), its Financial Intelligence Unit has launched an investigation into the case.
Regarding the matter, MP Saudha told several media outlets that the funds were obtained from a businessman as a student loan. However, she did not provide any further details.
With the upcoming local council elections, many are raising questions regarding the handover of 2.4 million Rufiyaa in cash. Following confirmation that this sum was deposited into MP Saudha’s account, there have been widespread calls for the relevant authorities to treat this as a serious matter and launch a formal investigation.
According to the financial disclosure submitted to the People's Majlis, Saudha received 990,000 Rufiyaa in salary over the course of a year. However, at the time the statement was filed, her account balance stood at just 78,000 Rufiyaa.
