An Indian Dornier aircraft and two Indian Coast Guard vessels have arrived in Malé City.
Despite previous concerns expressed by President Mohamed Muizzu’s administration regarding Indian military presence in Maldives, the government has clarified that these assets are in the country specifically to participate in joint military training exercises.
According to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), the vessels have arrived to take part in the trilateral military exercise “Dosti.”
MNDF confirmed via a post on the social media platform ‘X’ that the arriving fleet includes the Indian Coast Guard’s Dornier aircraft, the ICGS Atulya, and the ICGS Vajra, along with Sri Lanka’s SLNS Suranimala.
