Maldives has kept its gold medal hopes alive in the ongoing Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women’s Cup by securing a dominant 3-0 victory over Afghanistan in their second match.
The match, held on Sunday night at the Youth Center's indoor court, saw the Maldives overpower their opponents with straight-set wins of 25-20, 25-13, and 25-12, showcasing an exemplary performance from start to finish.
Following the match, Joozan Zareer, the setter for the Maldivian team, emphasized that they approached the second game with a strong resolve to improve on their performance from the first. With both of their matches now in the win column, Joozan credited the team’s consecutive victories to the collective effort of every player, working in harmony to achieve success.
Joozan also stressed the vital importance of fan support to push the team towards their goal, acknowledging the years of dedication and hard work by the players over the past decade.
As the Maldives prepares for their final group match against Kyrgyzstan, Joozan called on fans to fill the Youth Center to show their support and help fuel the team to even greater heights.
With a clear ambition to claim the gold medal, the Maldives heads into their next challenge with momentum on their side. On Monday night, they will face Kyrgyzstan, who has also won both of their matches so far.
