A 21-year-old Nepali woman has been stabbed in the neck in Hulhumalé.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the woman was working at a shop in Hulhumalé, when she was stabbed.
The incident occurred around 12:45pm in the first phase of Hulhumalé, where the woman was employed. She was immediately transported to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment. While the hospital has not officially released details of her injuries, the woman is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the attack is underway. No arrests were made at the time of publishing.
The incident comes amid growing public concern over a recent rise in violent assaults. Just two weeks ago, a young man was attacked with a sharp object on Majeedhee Magu in the congested capital, Malé City. Similarly, another individual was injured in a separate assault on Sosun Magu at the end of last month.
Police continue to urge vigilance as investigations into these cases proceed.
