This will be the second time the Maldives hosts the Carrom World Cup, the country previously hosted the event in 2014.
The announcement follows a string of strong performances by Maldivian players on the international stage. At last year’s Carrom World Cup in California, both Maldivian teams reached the semi-finals in the team event, securing bronze medals after being defeated by Sri Lanka.
The Maldives also saw notable success at the Asian Carrom Championship held in Malé City in 2024. In the doubles event, Ismail Azmeen and Hassan Nazim won silver, while the men’s team claimed silver in the team category and the women’s team earned bronze. Several Maldivian players also reached the quarterfinals in the singles events.
Hosting the Carrom World Cup again is seen as a major boost for the sport in the country, as well as an opportunity to showcase the Maldives as a rising player in the international carrom scene.
