Several members of the public have gathered at the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure with concerns and complaints about the 4,000 flats, which were allocated to residents during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, alleging mismanagement by the current administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu

Many individuals who were allocated flats gathered at the housing ministry, which currently operates at Dharubaaruge. Despite the large number of people who gathered near the housing ministry with complaints, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) blocked their entry into the ministry.

According to the public gathered at the housing ministry, several individuals who were previously confirmed to receive flats, had signed agreements, and were even assigned specific flats, are now receiving messages from the housing ministry.

The messages state that the ministry is in the process of verifying whether these individuals have lived in Malé City for 15 years, as it has not been confirmed yet. The public's concern, as expressed by those gathered at the housing ministry, is to clarify the nature of these messages, given that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had promised that people would receive what they were allocated, in the manner and place they were allocated.

Some members of the public who went to the ministry with complaints have asked the question at the ministry's counter. They have noted that they were informed at the counter that such messages are sent generally and that they would receive such messages. Consequently, they have also requested an explanation for why these general messages are being sent now.

Some individuals who were previously shown to be eligible for flats on the portal are now also receiving messages stating that they do not meet the criteria. While many members of the public want clarification on this matter, they claim that the ministry is not cooperating in this regard.

The people who gathered at the housing ministry on Thursday noted that the police obstructed them. They mentioned that the police had closed the ministry's doors and questioned why the public seeking information was being obstructed in this manner.
