Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has concluded his official visit to the Maldives.
The Sri Lankan president wrapped up his inaugural trip to Maldives and departed on Wednesday night.
The Sri Lankan President visited the Maldives at the official invitation of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
President Muizzu stated that with the Sri Lankan President’s visit, the relationship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka has been elevated to a new level.
The Maldivian leader also expressed full confidence that the agreements reached during this visit will be implemented.
He further stated that they will continue to engage in high-level consultations to further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
Upon arrival in the Maldives, the Sri Lankan President was officially welcomed by the Maldivian government. During the visit, he held official discussions with President Muizzu and participated in a ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and a treaty on cooperation in important areas between the two countries.

To mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan President participated in a tree planting ceremony at Sultan Park in Malé City on Wednesday, where he planted a tree. President Muizzu also participated in the ceremony.
The Sri Lankan President attended a special dinner hosted by the Maldivian President at Kurumba Maldives Resort. In his speech at the event, the Sri Lankan President stated that the Maldives and Sri Lanka remain close friends.
During this visit, the Sri Lankan President met with Maldivian investors and discussed investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
This is the Sri Lankan President’s first state visit to the Maldives since assuming the presidency of Sri Lanka last September. Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka were established in 1965, and this year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
