BML records MVR 790 million in operating profit for Q2
The bank has disclosed that this represents a 24 percent increase compared to the same period last year. BML has also revealed that the bank's net profit after tax for the first six months of this year was MVR 1.05 billion.

Bank of Maldives (BML) has reported an operating profit of MVR 790 million for the second quarter of 2025.

According to the country’s national bank, it earned a net profit of MVR 558 million during this period. The bank has disclosed that this represents a 24 percent increase compared to the same period last year. BML has also revealed that the bank's net profit after tax for the first six months of this year was MVR 1.05 billion.

Further, BML stated that this is a 12 percent increase compared to the first six months of 2024. The operating profit for the first six months of this year was MVR 1.4 billion. This is a six percent increase compared to the same period last year.

At the end of the second quarter, the bank's total loan portfolio stood at MVR 21.3 billion, with deposits of MVR 33.6 billion, and total assets of MVR 51 billion. By the end of the second quarter of this year, the bank had disbursed MVR three billion in new loans to individuals and businesses. The bank's capital and liquidity ratios have been maintained above the statutory requirements.

BML held its Annual General Meeting in the past quarter and approved a record dividend of MVR 296 million to be distributed to shareholders at MVR 55 per share.

In addition to this, the "BML ATM Nationwide" project, aimed at installing BML ATMs across every inhabited island in the Maldives, was further expanded this quarter. The bank achieved its goal of establishing ATMs on all inhabited islands in Noonu, Meemu, and Shaviyani atolls, and installed an ATM on Kaafu Huraa.

According to BML, ATM services have been established on all inhabited islands in Kaafu atoll. Further, during this quarter, the bank introduced "Env POS" to protect the environment. Under this initiative, for every transaction made using a BML card machine, the bank will allocate a specific amount towards environmental protection efforts in the Maldives. The program does not require any additional expenses from customers or businesses.

BML currently provides comprehensive digital services through a nationwide banking network, including 40 branches in 20 atolls, 133 Self-Service Banking Centers, 188 ATMs, and agent banking services.
