Ooredoo Maldives has officially opened registrations for the highly anticipated Ooredoo Masrace 2025, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources. The two-island series aims to unite fishing teams and enthusiasts in a vibrant celebration of the Maldives’ rich fishing heritage and competitive spirit.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the telecommunications giant revealed that the Masrace in Huraa island of Kaafu atoll will kick off on 22 August 2025, and that the Masrace in Funadhoo island of Shaviyani atoll will commence on 29 August 2025.

Registrations have been opened from Thursday through July 30 and teams of 12 members including the captain and officials may register online.

According to the telecom provider, Ooredoo Masrace 2025 will feature a total prize pool of MVR 80,000. The first-place winner will receive MVR 25,000, while the runner-up and second runner-up will be awarded MVR 10,000 and MVR 5,000 respectively. Additional prizes have been allocated for the titles of ‘Best Fisherman’ and ‘Best Fisherwoman’, recognizing outstanding individual performances.

Ooredoo Masrace has grown beyond a traditional fishing competition to become a lively community event that unites families, friends, and neighbors in honoring the Maldives’ enduring bond with the sea.

From novice crew members to seasoned captains, participants come together on sunlit shores to celebrate age-old fishing traditions, exchange stories, and cheer each other on through every exhilarating race.

As boats glide through crystal-clear waters and joyful voices carry over the sea, Masrace transforms into a vibrant showcase of Maldivian culture, celebrating collaboration, spirited rivalry, and the deep sense of togetherness that binds the community.
