Mohamed Nabeeh Afeef, the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the Road Development Corporation has been ordered to settle more than MVR 800,000 in outstanding rent for a building leased to operate a restaurant, with the involvement of another individual.
The case concerns an agreement between DBlue Private Limited, Mohamed Nabeeh Afeef and Ishag Mohamed regarding the lease of a café on the third floor of a building on M. West End Lodge property. The agreement covered the period from 1 December 2021, to 31 May 2024.
DBlue has filed a case with the Civil Court seeking an order for Nabeeh and Ishag to pay MVR 895,000 in a single payment. The amount covers MVR 880,000 in unpaid rent, along with MVR 15,000 in court costs and legal fees.
According to the Civil Court’s ruling, both defendants received the case documents but failed to submit a defense.
The court has ruled that Nabeeh and Ishag must pay DBlue Private Limited a total of MVR 895,000, which includes MVR 880,000 in unpaid rent and MVR 15,000 in court expenses.
To facilitate the payment to DBlue, the Civil Court has ordered Nabeeh and Ishag to deposit the full amount within 14 days from July 7, setting the deadline for July 22. The ruling was issued in absentia.
