Former MP for Gadhdhoo constituency, Ahmed Rasheed has passed away.

RaajjeMV understands that Rasheed passed away on Tuesday while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) following a period of illness.

Rasheed was a lawmaker of the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) who represented the Gadhdhoo constituency in the 18th People's Majlis assembly. Even after the presidency of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, he was actively involved in PPM activities.

As such, he had played a leading role in organizing the internal elections of the Progressive Congress Coalition during its time.
