A renowned religious scholar in the Maldives, Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed, has passed away.

Sheikh Fareed's funeral is to be held in Malaysia.

Sheikh Fareed passed away some time on Monday after arriving in Malaysia. He reportedly collapsed due to chest pain after disembarking from the flight and passed away while receiving treatment.

Along with this, close associates of Sheikh Fareed have revealed that efforts were being made to bring his body back to the Maldives. However, Sheikh Fareed's family has now decided to proceed with the funeral in Malaysia.

According to close associates of Sheikh Fareed, the decision was made to avoid repatriating his body from Malaysia to the Maldives, as this would have required a postmortem examination.

Sheikh Fareed was a person who always gave good advice on religious matters and gave religious lectures. Sheikh Fareed also did a lot of work to raise public awareness on religious matters.
