Ahmed Yameen, who held the position of Secretary General at the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB), has been suspended from his position.
Yameen was suspended from his position by the Civil Service Commission (CSC). The Civil Service Commission has suspended him for a period of 30 days.
Yameen was suspended last Thursday, citing an ongoing investigation related to him.
RaajjeMV understands that Yameen was suspended for opposing a policy change introduced by PCB in April. This was a change that allowed lower-ranking individuals to be appointed to senior positions in government companies.
However, it has been reported that SG Yameen was among those who opposed this change brought by PCB. In addition to him, it is reported that some other parties have also opposed to the matter.
When questioned by RaajjeMV regarding this, President of the Civil Service Commission, Mohamed Nasih, confirmed that PCB's SG has been suspended.
Nasih also said that Yameen was suspended in connection with some issues submitted by the PCB board linked to him. However, Nasih did not provide any details about said issue.
Nasih has also stated that Yameen has been suspended for a period of 30 days until those issues are investigated and concluded.
Yameen was appointed to the position of SG at PCB on 9 November 2022.
