Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau honorably retires from the police service

Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has honorably retired from the Maldives Police Service.

A ceremony was held for the occasion on Wednesday at the Iskandar Building.

Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Taking the podium at the ceremony, Shujau expressed profound gratitude to those who had assisted him in several ways during his time in the police service. During the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police was presented with a commemorative plaque of honor and a retirement card. The commemorative plaque of honor is awarded by the Maldives Police Service to Commissioners who retire honorably. The commemorative plaque includes the colors and medals received by the Commissioner, items included in the Commissioner of Police's uniform, as well as a card identifying him as a police officer.

Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau joined the police service in September 2006. Before joining the police service, he had served in the education sector for eight years.

Commissioner Ali Shujau was promoted to a commissioned rank in the Maldives Police Service in 2008. Subsequently, he worked in areas such as police training, operations, intelligence, and investigations, in addition to holding leadership and management positions within the police service. He has also represented the Maldivian government and police service at professional forums both at national and international levels.

Shujau was appointed to the position of Commissioner of Police on 24 December 2023, by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
