A court order has been requested to arrest Raud Ahmed Zilaal, who was with Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, 21, when she fell from the roof of H. Fentenoy.
At a press conference held on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen said that Raud is not cooperating with the work of the review team in the case, and that a court order has now been requested for his arrest.
Several members of the public continue to criticize the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the current administration, claiming that the police institution is acting biasedly in connection with the incident where Yumnu “fell” from the building, onto the roof of an adjacent building.
In connection with the case, Raud was initially summoned to the police station where his statement was taken. Although he tested positive for cannabis when his urine was tested, he has not been arrested so far, but his passport has been confiscated.
Many people have also criticized the police institution for not arresting him despite testing positive for cannabis. According to Article 115 of the Narcotics Act, the punishment for using cannabis is three years in prison.
Yumnu was found on the morning of April 18, injured beyond recognition, atop a roof adjacent to Fentenoy.
