The Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works has assigned the development of children's parks across 12 islands that currently lack such facilities, to government-owned companies.
The signing ceremony for the agreement to develop parks across the12 islands was held at the auditorium on the fifth floor of State Electric Company (STELCO).
At the ceremony, agreements were signed with state utilities company Fenaka Corporation to develop parks in Feevah island of Shaviyani atoll, Henbadhoo island of Noonu atoll, Maalhendhoo island of Noonu atoll, Kudafari island of Noonu atoll, Veyvah island of Meemu atoll and Maduvvari island of Meemu atoll.
Agreements were signed with the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to develop parks across Komandoo island of Shaviyani atoll, Manadhoo island of Noonu atoll, Fodhdhoo island of Noonu atoll and Nilandhoo island of Faafu atoll.
Further, agreements were signed with the Road Development Corporation (RDC) to develop parts in Kendhikulhudhoo island of Noonu atoll and Velidhoo island of Noonu atoll.
Permanent Secretary Dr. Fathimath Muna signed the agreements on the behalf of the ministry, with Managing Director Major (Rtd.) Mohamed Najah signed signing on behalf of Fenaka Corporation, Managing Director DCP (Rtd.) Ahmed Saudee signing on behalf of MTCC and Managing Director Brigadier General (Rtd.) Ali Zuhair signing on behalf of RDC.
Members of Parliament representing the constituencies of the islands where the parks are to be developed attended the signing ceremony as well.
The children's parks have been contracted to be completed within the next six months.
