PCB on Wednesday revealed that Brigadier General (Rtd) Faruhath Shaheer has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MIFCO

Retired Brigadier General Faruhath Shaheer has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).

On Wednesday, the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) revealed that Brigadier General (Rtd) Faruhath Shaheer has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MIFCO.

Faruhath was the Vice Chief of Defence Force during former President Mohamed Nasheed's administration. He retired from the military service on 29 February 2012, during President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik's administration. Later, during former President Abdulla Yameen's administration, he served as the CEO of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Faruhath has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MIFCO after Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov, who held the position, was dismissed from the role on Monday. However, the government has not disclosed the reason for his dismissal.

Lyubimov was appointed to the position on 9 December 2024. Lyubimov was the first foreign Managing Director appointed to MIFCO.
