The low turnout of officers in the Maldives Police Service’s (MPS) annual “Commissioner Officer Retreat” training programme has worsened.
According to a reliable source who provided information to RaajjeMV, the training programme is conducted once a year among police officers.
Although approximately 300 police officers work at the officer rank, the source informed RaajjeMV that not even 100 officers participated in the training for this year.
According to the source, several officers had cited various excuses and did not participate.
It was noted that in previous years, the home minister and other high-ranking officials had participated. However, the source highlighted that this time, neither Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan nor other high-ranking officials have participated in the training.
The source also stated that the issue has worsened due to the inadequate attendance of officers for the training programme.
An official statement from the police institution regarding the matter was not attainable at the time of publishing.
The Commissioned Officer Retreat was conducted last weekend at Vaanee island of Dhaalu atoll.
