Following the results of the by-election held on Saturday, three senior employees of Fenaka Corporation in Miladhoo island of Noonu atoll have been abruptly suspended.

The suspended employees are Station Manager Mohamed Hussain, Deputy Manager Hamid Hussain, and Assistant Manager Mohamed Ali.

It has been revealed that the letters sent to these three employees individually by Fenaka Corporation Limited on Sunday contain the same wording.

Copies of said letters obtained by RaajjeMV read that due to an ongoing investigation into a matter related to said employees, and as there are further aspects to be examined in the investigation, they have been suspended from reporting to the office for a period of 14 days starting from February 10.

The letter did not specify what issue is being investigated.

RaajjeMV understands that none of these employees had previously been notified of any issues.

In the by-election for the Women's Development Committee (WDC) held on Saturday, the candidate representing the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) defeated the candidate from the ruling party, People’s National Congress (PNC) by a large margin.

RaajjeMV understands that before voting in Saturday’s polls, Fenaka's Deputy Managing Director Mohamed “Rukuma” Abdul Kareem visited Miladhoo island and met with Fenaka employees, reportedly requesting them to vote for the government's candidate.

A source from the island speaking about the suspension of the three Fenaka employees revealed that their fault was not actively campaigning for PNC, and that this was not a measure taken due to any other wrongdoing.
