Employees have submitted a petition to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressing their dissatisfaction and concerns regarding the proposed changes to the structure of Aasandha Company, the universal health insurance scheme of Maldives.

RaajjeMV has acquired a copy of said petition, signed by about 50 employees of the company.

The petition states that it was submitted to address the major concerns that have arisen among employees due to management's decision to abolish the Case Processing Department and eliminate supervisor positions.

According to the petition, these changes, set to take effect on 1 February 2025, will negatively impact the jobs of more than 60 employees and also adversely affect Aasandha services.

The petition states that as a result of the structural changes Aasandha is bringing, there is significant dissatisfaction and unease among employees due to the decision to replace many long-serving supervisor positions with a single shift in-charge position, and to transfer many employees to positions unsuitable for them.

The petition highlights that the Case Processing Department plays a crucial role in managing and resolving cases related to health services provided by the company to the public. However, it states that on 20 January 2025, Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya announced the decision to abolish this important department.

The petition goes on to read that employees who have served for years and gained experience have been told they will be transferred to positions unrelated to their skills and services, including counters, call centers, and processing.

It also states that these changes were decided upon "without adequate consultation or clearly explaining the necessity."

The petition further states that the company's actions have made employees feel undervalued and that their voices “don't need to be heard”, resulting in demoralized staff.

Noting that considering the concerns outlined, the employees have respectfully appealed on the president, the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) and relevant authorities of Aasandha Company’s board to find a solution to this significant issue.

The petition expresses concern that the abolition of the Case Processing Department, elimination of supervisor positions, and the potential financial and employment issues facing many employees as a result could lead to decreased employee morale, loss of trust in management, and potentially negatively impact the quality of services provided to the public.

In the petition, the employees expressed hope that steps will be taken to protect employees' rights, maintain the company's integrity, and fulfill the government's promises to provide transparent, equitable, and high-quality services to the public.

The employees who signed the petition say they are seeking a prompt response and quick resolution to these issues.
