An individual has been arrested in connection with a disturbance at Velana International Airport (VIA).
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the report of the incident was received around 3:15pm on Wednesday.
MPS noted that the disturbance occurred among a group of Sri Lankan nationals staying in the Maldives on work visas, and the fight took place at the taxi drop-off point.
The police institution added that one person has been taken into police custody in connection with the disturbance.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
A video began circulating on social media after the disturbance broke out at VIA.
The video shows a person hitting someone. Attempts are observed being made to separate them. At the time, police and airport officials can also be seen active in the area.
