CAVA Club Championship: HDC loses in third-place playoff

HDC from the Maldives has been defeated by an Iranian club in the third-place playoff of the Central Asia Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men's Club Championship.

The third-place playoff of the tournament was held in Kathmandu, Nepal on Saturday.

HDC lost to the Iranian club in straight three sets. Despite losing in straight sets, HDC displayed good gameplay and put up a strong competition in the match.

The first set of the match started with both teams showing equal performance. However, at a certain point in the set, HDC managed to take the lead. HDC gained a four-point lead, but they couldn't maintain it as the Iranian club equalized the score. After that, the Iranian club took the lead and won the first set 25-21.

The Iranian club started the second set in the lead as well. However, HDC managed to equalize the score at one point and even took the lead. But HDC couldn't maintain their lead in this set either.

After the Iranian club regained the lead, both teams showed equal performance. At one point, the Iranian club extended their lead. However, HDC caught up and equalized the score at 22-22.

After that, HDC even took the lead at 24-22. The Iranian club then equalized the score, while HDC had a chance to finish the set. However, they couldn't capitalize on the opportunity, and the Iranian club won the second set 27-25.

HDC started the third set in the lead. They maintained their lead and extended it to 17-11. After that, as the Iranian club reduced the gap, both teams showed equal performance. HDC even managed to get a set point in this set. However, the Iranian club caught up and equalized the score at 24-24. The score was also tied at 25-25, after which the Iranian club won the third set 27-25.

HDC has won only one match in the tournament. That was against Gandaki in the league round of the tournament. HDC lost the other three matches they played in the league round. In the semi-final of the tournament, HDC lost to Help Nepal Sports. HDC had to face the Iranian club in the third-place playoff because they lost the semi-final match.
