The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has dismissed two senior officials.
The case revolving around the unfair allocation of land to HDC's former Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed's brother has led to the dismissal of the company's Chief Development Officer (CFO) Abdulla Faid and Chief Business Officer and Media Department Head Ahmed Yameen.
The dismissal of HDC's CFO Abdulla Faid and Chief Business Officer Ahmed Yameen was confirmed to RaajjeMV by the company's media official on Friday night.
Although the media official has confirmed the dismissals, they did not specify the reason for their termination.
The two dismissed officials were very close associates of HDC's former MD Fazul.
The dismissals come after Fazul Rasheed resigned from his position as Managing Director last December amid a corruption and embezzlement case.
Fazul resigned while under suspension for a case involving the illegal allocation of a plot of land in Hulhumalé by HDC to individuals who were not eligible under the "Binveriyaa" scheme, which was intended for Malé residents.
Although almost all board members were initially suspended in connection with the case, their suspensions were later lifted, and they were reinstated. However, they were subsequently suspended again after reinstatement.
The police institution is currently conducting a criminal investigation into the major fraud and embezzlement case related to the Binveriyaa scheme.
