Voters have on Saturday begun casting ballots in the bi-elections for Kamadhoo island’s council.

Voting began at around 8:00 on the island, in Baa atoll, and at 8:20 for its residents in Malé City.

The Elections Commission has established two polling stations for the bi-elections.

There are 226 eligible voters in Kamadhoo, who can cast their votes at the island’s school, while there are 112 eligible voters in Malé.

Two candidates are competing for the island's local council seats; Ahmed Saajid from the Maldivian Democratic Party and Ali Naail from the Progressive Party of Maldives.
