Democrats Pres. calls Muizzu a pathological liar, urges to seek help
Several have been asserting that he has been acting in direct opposition to his electoral pledges so far

President of the Democrats, Hassan Latheef, has called on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to seek professional help over lies.
Taking to the social media platform ‘X’ on Monday, Latheef stressed that Muizzu “seriously needs to seek professional help.” Latheef has described Muizzu as a "pathological liar"; someone who frequently lies and sees lying as something that must be done, lying even beyond their own control.
Latheef said that given the extent to which lying is observed in Muizzu, pathological lying can often be a symptom of an underlying mental health condition.
He added that according to medical experts, if a person is a pathological liar, he may not be completely aware of it.
Latheef, the president of the Democrats who worked to bring President Muizzu to power, also attached an information sheet containing symptoms of pathological lying in his post.
The Democrats’ president has called Muizzu a pathological liar at a time several have been expressing dissatisfaction and criticizing the numerous falsehoods in Muizzu's speech at the Social Center on the occasion of the government's first anniversary on Monday evening.
The Muizzu administration completed a year on 17 November 2024, and several have been asserting that he has been acting in direct opposition to his electoral pledges so far.
