President Muizzu conferring the National Award for Public Service upon a recipient
The National Award for Public Service has been conferred to 53 individuals.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented badges and shields of honor to the recipients of the National Award for Public Service, in recognition of their long-term service to the state, during an official ceremony held to mark Republic Day, at Dharubaaruge on Sunday.
The ‘National Award for Public Service’ recognizes the different achievements of nominees and the quality of their work as well as contributions towards the development of their respective fields were taken into consideration. The award mirrors the prestigious National Award of Honor.
It is awarded to employees with more than 35 years of public service and acknowledged their competence and sincerity in fulfilling their responsibilities and their contributions to the advancement of the institutions they served.
Among those honored on Sunday were 11 individuals who served the state for more than 40 years and 42 individuals who served for more than 35 years.
The selection of recipients for the National Award for Public Service was carried out by the National Awards Committee.
The award was conferred to those who have been celebrated as resilient workers. The Awards Committee took into consideration the quality of their work as well as contributions towards the progress of their respective fields when the nominations were reviewed.
The award was introduced by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during a meeting with his Cabinet of Ministers during February 2021, with the intention of recognizing and awarding those who have contributed significantly to the public sector.
Sunday’s ceremony saw President Muizzu congratulating the recipients and extending his best wishes.
