The Maldives’ National Football Team is set to resume international matches after a year-long hiatus.

The national football team last played an international match in 2023; a FIFA World Cup qualification match against Bangladesh.

The FIFA World Cup qualification match was played on 17 October 2023.

Since then, the national team has not played any games during the past year.

Ahmed Zuhoor, Chairman of the Normalizing Committee of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) earlier revealed that the national squad is preparing to play matches during the FIFA break slated from November 11 to 19.

The national squad is scheduled to play international friendly matches against neighboring Bangladesh.

Both matches, to be played on November 13 and 16, will be held in Bangladesh.

This was announced by the Bangladesh Football Federation.

Maldives is currently under suspension by the International Federation of Association Football or FIFA and the island nation’s football season has also been put on hold.

Speaking at a press conference held by FAM's Normalizing Committee last September, Zuhoor said that he couldn't specify a date the football season would commence.
