A dead body has been found at sea in the capital, Malé City.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the discovery of the dead body was reported to authorities at around 05:06pm on Monday.

The body was discovered in the water, near the Usfasgandu region.

The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim Jauharee, 62.

MPS revealed that the body was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Police cited doctors having revealed that the man was already dead, when he was brought in.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
